Sifnos Beaches

Kamares beach

One of the longest beaches in the Cyclades , shallow enough so you don't have to worry about your kids, with tavernas & cafes bordering it.

Vathi beach (Vathy)

Vathy is an attractive fishing village in the south west of the island which could only be reached by boat or on foot until 1997 when a road was built to it from Apollonia. Here you'll find one of the best beaches on the island, overlooking a beautiful funnel-shaped bay

Kastro beach

Small stony beach with flat stones, great for sunbathing and good snorkelling. There are a couple of tavernas at Seralia but, like Poulati, there are also a number of steps to negotiate.

Agia Marina

Far side of Kamares with nice sandy beach and rocks beyond the settlement for nude bathing and snorkling.

Poulati beach

The small, stoney beach at Poulati is great for snorkelling and a popular hang-out for young people who want to get away from the crowds. But beware, there are quite a few steps to get down to Poulati beach and there always seems to be more on the way back up!

Chryssopigi beach

Great swimming, sunbathing and diving in the small rocky coves and out on the point

Platis Yialos

12 kilometres south of Apollonia, is the main beachfront resort with a large, sheltered beach flanked by numerous hotels, shops and restaurants. It's frequented by package holidaymakers and also the locals who come here to enjoy a frappe (delicious frothy iced coffee) or an evening meal as the sun goes down.

Heronissos beach

Heronissos, in the north west corner of the island, is an isolated hamlet with a couple of tavernas and a small sandy beach. This is a good place for snorkelling - you can reach it either by road or hire a water taxi from Kamares.

Apokofto beach

A sandy beach with rocky shelf next to the monastery of Chrysopigi. Apokofto is a great beach, never too crowded and two excellent taverna's.

Faros beach

Faros is a little further north along the coast and offers three uncrowded beaches, several tavernas and a hotel at Fasolou which is an unofficial nudist beach.

Fasolou beach

A short walk from Faros with a good taverna on the beach. Fasolou beach is not large but the combination fine golden sand, clear waters and rocks bordering both sides make it ideal for sun worshipers, swimmers and snorkel fans alike
